elcome to Yorkshire Rose Farm.
We are relative newcomers to the world of raising sheep, But our goal is to raise sheep and their lambs in the most natural way possible with little or no use of routine injections unless they are absolutely needed. Just because it is the done thing doesn't mean you need to do it. The top priority for us is the health and
happiness
of our animals. Read about us and out goals and beliefs in
About Us
We currently have a flock of 17 pure breed Romney ewes and 8 pure breed Rambouillet ewes., see (
Our Flock
) page for more details about our flock.
Over the coming months and years we plan on selling Breeding Stock, Freezer Lamb, Raw and processed
Fleeces
, Roving, Wool, Felt Products and Tanned Hides.
2010 Shearing
This years shearing is all done now thanks to Joe Huber and his sons, they certainly make it look easy. In total they sheared 28 sheep for us.
The fleeces are all bagged and ready for skirting which should start this week. As soon as we can we will upload some photos of them with weights and prices. But you don't have to wait for that if you are interested in fleeces then by all means contact us by phone or email and let us know what you are looking for. We have colored and white Romney fleeces and a few white Ramouillet fleeces. The fleeces will be in the $7 to $10 per pound range.
Romney Ram Lambs For Sale
We have had a real Ram lamb season this year and have at least 5 ram lambs for sale, one colored and 4 white. for more details and pictures click this link
Breeding Stock for Sale
Come see us at the Hilldale Farmers Market
.
We now have a stall on the
Hilldale farmers market
in Madison WI, just behind Macy's we are there Wednesdays and Saturday that is unless we are sold out.
The first 2 markets have gone really well and sales have been very encouraging. Hardest thing at the moment especially on the meat side is having enough meat to sell. I suppose the draw back of being Grass Fed is we have to wait for nature to take its time. But I am sure our customers will appreciate the better taste the lamb has from not being force fed.
